O reggae perde mais uma lenda - YABBY YOU

Um dos grandes nomes do Reggae/Dub nos deixou para se juntar a Jam magistral que rola no céu, ao lado de Jah.

Vivian Jackson a.k.a. YABBY YOU a.k.a. JESUS DREAD, nasceu em Kingston, Jamaica em 1946 e começou sua carreira no final dos anos 6o, como integrante da banda SONS OF NEGUS.

Além de produzir artistas no naipe de BIG YOUTH, DILLINGER, MICHEAL PROPHET, TRINITY, SLY & ROBBIE e TAPPA ZUKIE, também mantinha sua carreira solo, e no ano de 1972, lançou o single "CONQUERING LION ", com os créditos à "VIVIAN JACKSON AND THE RALPH BROTHERS".

O sucesso da música, mais a introdução (be-you, yabby-yabby-you) garantiram que, o até então Vivian Jackson, adotasse o nome artístico de Yabby You, que carregou até o final de sua jornada.

Já em 1976 lançou o álbum "Ram a Dam", no mesmo ano em parceria com KING TUBBY, nos trouxe "Chant Down Babylon" (a.k.a. KING TUBBY MEETS VIVIAN JACKSON).

Lançou quase um álbum por ano de 1976 à 1986, fora participações em coletâneas e como instrumentista, é isso mesmo, além de tudo, Yabby You também tocava percussão.

Vivian Jackson morreu em 12 de Janeiro de 2010, na cidade de Clarendon, Jamaica, aos 63 anos.

Um pouquinho sobre sua vida pessoal :

O Conquering Lion, saiu as doze anos de casa onde morava com mais seis irmãos, para trabalhar em Waterhouse.

Aos dezessete, foi hospitalizado com problemas de sub nutrição, o que causou artrite.

Com sequelas nas pernas, não podia mais voltar a seu antigo emprego, o que obrigou-o a viver nas ruas de Kingston por algum tempo.
